Three schools near Portsmouth in line for overhaul in multi-million-pound scheme
Seven schools in Hampshire will have their roofs and windows replaced as part of a programme to improve building insulation and energy efficiency.
Hampshire County Council has approved a multi-million pound scheme to upgrade ageing roofs and install high-performance windows at several schools across the county.
The £4.3 million package of building improvements will be funded through the department for education’s school condition allocation.

The work aims to reduce heat loss, cut energy bills and improve classroom comfort for pupils and staff.
Schools included in the programme are Park Community School in Havant; Chalk Ridge Primary School in Basingstoke; Locks Heath Infant School and Ranvilles Infant School in Fareham; Orchard Junior School in the New Forest; Purbrook Infant School in Waterlooville; and The Vyne School in Basingstoke.
Most of the projects will focus on replacing older roof coverings and upgrading insulation, particularly in buildings constructed using older system-built designs.
In some cases, the work will also include installing new rooflights, improving ventilation systems and upgrading rainwater drainage.
At Purbrook Infant School, older single-glazed windows will be replaced with modern double-glazed units designed to improve thermal performance and classroom comfort.
Work is expected to start in the summer, with completion planned for the autumn.
