Gosport's unsafe James Road playground to be transformed with inclusive new equipment

A housing association’s plans to revamp and install a new children’s play area has got a step closer.

Vivid has submitted plans for the installation of replacement play equipment on James Road in Gosport.

The application form said the previous play equipment at the “grassland managed” site next to 4 Moorsum House, in Gosport, was removed because it became “unsafe”.

The playground, mainly for children, will include a toddler swing, a shark springer, a toddler multi-play, a seesaw, a wheelchair roundabout and two benches.

The 185.46 square metre, oblong area will be resurfaced with colourful blue, green, yellow and black wet pour surfacing, which is wheelchair accessible all year round.

It will be edged and surrounded by new plant beds at each end of the site that will have native hedges and plants for improved “nature networks”.

The current site is a vacant plot of land that is enclosed by bow top fencing rails that surround the plot, and access is via a gate.

The planning officers will decide on this planning application 25/00190/FULL by October 14.
