Playground at Bransbury Park to close as site prepares for next steps of multi-million pound transformation
The old playground at Bransbury Park will close at the start of next month to make way for newly improved facilities as part of a multi-million pound project for a new leisure centre.
As a result of the preparation work, four trees have been removed from the site, pruning has been completed and the hard courts and astroturf court have been closed to the public.

Building has also commenced at the new play site, with a recent Portsmouth City Council update confirming the contractors, Reds Builders, have established their compound in the south-west corner of the park.
The play area, which will use rubber mulch and tiles for easier access, will provide fun new equipment including a climbing frame as well as quiet areas, sensory elements and new planting.
“It is now due to close during the week commencing March 2. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but as the main building work for the new centre starts soon, it is an important step towards creating modern new facilities for local families.”
The next phase of the project, which will cost in excess of £20 million, will see the main contractors install their site offices before putting hoardings around the site.
More updates to follow.
