Emergency services, including an air ambulance, raced to the scene but Mrs Bamford, who was in her 40s, sadly died at the school on Romsey Road.

A carpet of floral tributes have been laid in memory of the long-standing female member of staff who was head of business and computing.

Dozens of tributes, candles and cards have been laid at the school gates as people paid tribute to the popular teacher.

One pupil wrote on a card: "You were a wonderful teacher and will forever be remembered. Thank you for always being kind."

Another wrote: "You were such a sweet, kind, lovable, enjoyable and free soul. You would never ever hurt a fly.

"You have made such an impact on many people's lives, including mine. I'm very, very and forever will be grateful for all you have ever taught me."

A spokesperson for Kings' School said: "Our Kings’ family is deeply saddened by this unimaginable loss and it will take time for us all to heal. Support is in place for all our pupils and staff to access any time they need.

"Our love and deepest condolences go out to Mrs Bamford’s family and friends. She truly was the most incredibly kind, caring, fun and always bubbly person and she will be deeply deeply missed."
