Portsmouth City Council hosted a special Visit Portsmouth Network Meeting that featured updates from some of Portsmouth’s major tourism organisations, including Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Portsmouth International Port.

The event coincided with the launch of English Tourism week (March 13 - 22) with a host of special offers available.

The Visit Portsmouth team shared activities planned for the year ahead, alongside findings from the latest visitor survey. Attendees also heard updates on the UK City of Culture bid from Portsmouth Creates, as well as a devolution and Local Government Reorganisation update from Portsmouth City Council.

Councillor Steve Pitt, leader of Portsmouth City Council with responsibilities for culture and economic development, said: “It’s particularly exciting to be promoting Portsmouth’s fantastic visitor offer in our centenary year as a city.

“Our culture and tourism sector supports more than 12,000 local jobs, and our attractions and museums collaborate brilliantly with the Council to ensure we are doing all we can to attract both residents and visitors to enjoy what is on offer.”
