Southsea and Cosham firefighters tackle double decker bus blaze

FIREFIGHTERS have confirmed they were called out this evening to tackle a fire on a double-decker bus.

Fire crews from Cosham and Southsea were deployed to tackle the bus blaze on the M27 hard shoulder between junctions 11 and 12 on the westbound carriageway after receiving a call at 5.12pm. They were joined by a water-carrier from Fareham.

One foam jet and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze which caused smoke to billow across the M27.

Firefighters said the bus was a school bus which fortunately did not have any children on at the time and no one is believed to have been injured.
