Six people rescued by Gosport lifeboat after broken down boat starts ‘drifting into the shipping lane’
SIX people had to be rescued from their motorboat after it had broken down and was ‘drifting into the shipping lanes’.
Gosport lifeboat was deployed to the stricken vessel after being alerted to the incident at 2.50pm this afternoon (December 6).
The group of men and women had to be rescued and taken ashore after their boat had broken down close to No Man's Land Fort in the Solent between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

The group were taken ashore to safety and no one needed any medical treatment. The Gosport lifeboat crew left the scene at 4.45pm.
With concerns the vessel was continuing to drift into the path of oncoming ships, the marine breakdown service Seastart have been deployed to fix the boat and bring it safely to shore.
