The 37-year-old said: ‘I hold myself to high standards but those are usually things I have gone trained for and gone in for like exams, exams and more exams.

‘This is something I signed up to for fun and to do interesting things and I have.’

The BBC One show saw 12 competitors complete a variety of challenges to test their skills by judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant, whilst presenter Joe Lycett added a comedic commentary.

In tonight’s final, the three sewers, including TV supervisor Matt Gage and jewellery designer Nicole Akong, both from London took on threes challenge before Clare was crowned the winner.

For her final look, Clare made a red 1930’s Hollywood glamour dress, styled by hospital colleague Alex.

Patrick remarked it as ‘perfection’. Both judges said she was a ‘clear winner’.

The final pattern challenge saw the trio have to make kilts for children. Clare came first with a yellow and black tartan kilt with Esme describing it as ‘excellent’.

Prom dresses and swimwear were brought together for the transformation challenge to create carnival looks.

Using a purple bikini, Clare added pink feathers, sequins and wings, clenching her second place.

Clare’s mum Jane couldn’t be more proud of her daughter.

On the show she said: ‘Everything she does amazes me. I was a doctor too but without doing all these extra bits.

‘But I would love her even if she was useless.’
