Portsmouth man in 30s becomes millionaire overnight with National Lottery win
The man said he “can’t believe it”
A Portsmouth man in his 30s has become a millionaire overnight with a National Lottery win.
The aerospace engineer scooped the prize after matching The National Lottery’s EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker code in the draw on Friday 26 June.

The winner has been playing for the last two years and chose to play EuroMillions as it offers two ways to win – through the jackpot or through the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker
He now plans to treat himself to a new mountain bike, look after his family, and explore some investments for the future.
Speaking about the win, he said, “It feels like starting life all over again, with a balanced foundation and the certainty of a secured future. It's an incredible feeling knowing my family are looked after and that I can plan ahead with real confidence. I still can't quite believe it.”
Liz Styles, winners' advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the winner, saying, “Congratulations to our lucky Portsmouth winner. He chose EuroMillions for its two ways to win, and the UK Millionaire Maker has delivered a truly life-changing £1m. We're delighted the win gives him and his family such security for the future, and we wish him many happy miles on his new mountain bike.”
Players can buy and check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk. They can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is automatically checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Playing any National Lottery game is more than just a chance to win; it's a way to contribute to something much bigger. Each week, players help generate around £33M for National Lottery-funded projects.
“With over £53bn raised for Good Causes since launch, this funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK. From supporting the arts and sport sectors, to empowering local community groups and preserving iconic British landmarks, players' participation makes a difference every single day.”
