Portsmouth Lush worker creates two new products for cosmetic company's Eid al-Adha range

Portsmouth Lush worker designs two new products

With Eid al-Adha approaching at the end of May one Portsmouth woman has designed two cosmetic products inspired by the religious festival.

Andreea Marin moved to Portsmouth five years ago to study but has been working at Lush in Cascades Shopping Centre for the past three years. Having started as a seasonal sales assistant she is now a trainee manager and discovered the cosmetic company’s global Eid Co-Create programme which is a product creation internship.

Through the initiative, Andreea, who is originally from Romania, has created two products which have been included in Lush’s Eid al-Adha range this year. She is the mind behind the Siraj bath bomb which is scented with sticky dates fragrance and encourages bathers to “relax and sit with gratitude for their blessing”.

Andreea said: “It was an empowering experience working in the Co-Create program at Lush. The programme gave me the opportunity to bring my ideas to life and collaborate closely with others throughout the process.

"Siraj is a reminder that everything unfolds as it is meant to. In Islam, self care is a cherished practice, and this deep blue and gold bath bomb offers a moment to relax, reflect and embrace your blessings.”

The other product developed by Andreea is the Hayl shimmering massage bar. It is described as being packed with uplifting orange oil and warming cardamom and draws inspiration from the spice’s role in Arabic coffee, desserts sweet dishes when hosting guests or celebrating.

Andreea said: “Massage is a lovely form of self care. I thought a massage bar would be nice to have in the range as we also like to use fragrance throughout the day, especially on Eid, so using a massage bar and having that scent last for a long time, is something we look for in a product.”

Eid al-Adha is the second of the two main festivals in Islam, alongside Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan. This year, Eid al-Adha is expected to take place between May 26 and May 30.
