Portsmouth churchgoers spot peregrine falcon nesting in church tower
CHURCHES across Portsmouth have seen few visitors since the coronavirus outbreak.
But at St Cuthbert's Church in Lichfield Road, Baffins, a peregrine falcon has been spotted at the top of the tower.
It is believed that the falcon may be creating a nest – indicating that baby falcons could be on the way.

The peregrine, photographed by Mark Cox, is thought to have arrived in the past few days.
The Rev Allie Kerr said the bird has created a buzz.
She said: ‘Everyone at the church thinks this is absolutely amazing.
‘As Christians we’re huge advocates of protecting our environment – so there’s a real sense of hope around the falcon’s arrival.
‘It’s the first time I’ve seen one so it’s exciting.’
The church will talk to the RSPB to see what can be done to help the bird.
Peregrines have nested at Chichester Cathedral for about 20 years – and are the subjects of a popular nestcam.
