'I Love My City': Six-year-old Portsmouth artist's drawing is put on display at the Royal Academy of Arts
Portsmouth's six-year-old Olivia Stacey showcases her love for her hometown in her artwork
A six-year-old schoolgirl has shown her love of the city in a special artwork which has been put on display in London.
Olivia Stacey has had her work ‘I Love My City’, a drawing to celebrate Portsmouth in its centenary year, put on display in the Young Artists Summer Show at the Royal Academy of Art.
“It all the things I like about Portsmouth," said Olivia. “I drew the Spinnaker Tower, the aquarium, Mountbatten Gymnastics Centre, the farm, the climbing wall, the upside down house and the beach as well… and fireworks!”
“I used pens - some took me like two days because I used pencils to sketch out little shapes and then I coloured it in with all different colours.”

Olivia said she has always loved art, and was excited when the opportunity to be featured in the Young Artists Summer Show was advertised in her school newsletter.
“It took me days, I think like two weeks, to draw all of these individual little circles and stick them on the paper,” she said.
“She came up with the idea herself,” said her mum, Ellie.
“I showed my drawing in assembly in front of the rest of the school,” said Olivia, but she said she wasn’t nervous about standing up in front of everyone.

Olivia and her family have been to see her artwork hanging in the Royal Academy of Art - it was Olivia’s first trip to London.
“It was good but it was tiring,” she said of her visit to the capital. “We only saw about one percent of the city.”
Olivia wants to keep drawing and would like to see her artwork displayed in more galleries in the future.
All the artworks featured in the exhibition can be seen online, and there is also the opportunity to vote for your favourite artwork as part of the People’s Choice Award. You can view Olivia’s piece, ‘I Love My City’, here.
