Portsmouth artist My Dog Sighs honoured by The News for keeping spirits up
DURING what has been a dark and gloomy year, with coronavirus casting a shadow over the city, one man has brought vibrance and colour back into people’s lives.
Artist My Dog Sighs has been named in the News Years Honours for his contribution towards keeping spirits high in the city, with his stunning artwork regularly being a big talking point in the city.

For the newspaper’s QA Hospital Heroes Thank You Appeal, the internationally-recognised artist created a special piece of artwork, titled Even Apart We Are Together.
He also created an eye-catching mural at Hilsea Lido and redecorated the Portsmouth Carers building in Francis Avenue, Southsea, on behalf of Wilder Portsmouth.
My Dog Sighs said: ‘It’s a wonderful honour to be nominated, especially as there are so many wonderful people doing great things in the city.
‘Lockdown has given me the opportunity to work close to home this year with large murals at the Queens Hotel, Hilsea Lido, in Francis Avenue for the Wilder Portsmouth project and lots of smaller murals and artworks, hopefully raising a smile and saying thank you to those on the front who are doing what they can, in uncertain times, to keep us safe and surviving.
‘Art has been a crux for many – it felt like a lovely way to connect with people when we were at our most disconnected.’
The artist added he was working on something ‘really big’ for the city in 2021.
