Pompey deliver perishable food to Portsmouth Foodbank after Ipswich game postponed due to frozen pitch
While many fans were disappointed to discover that Pompey’s game with Ipswich was postponed on Sunday - some good did come out of it.
The Fratton Park fixture was called off due to a frozen pitch following an 11am pitch inspection on Sunday, January 4. However, a rest for John Mousinho’s injury hit squad was not the only benefit with Pompey delivering all perishable food to a local food bank.
The club posted on social media: “Following today's postponement, all perishable food has been donated to Portsmouth Foodbank to support people in our city who need it most.”
Portsmouth Foodbank by Trussell Trust is a project founded by local churches, community groups and individuals aiming to help stop hunger in the Portsmouth. It runs a number of food bank centres in the city with location in the city centre, Southsea, Paulsgrove, and Baffins.
