Hampshire's first 'drive-in' gig is taking place in June
THE first 'drive-in' gig in the south will take place in June with a selection of the region's best loved musicians and rising talent set to feature.
The event on Friday, June 19 at Royal Victoria Country Park in Southampton is thought to be the first of its type in the south.
Southsea-based indie-folk duo Me and the Moon will be making an appearance alongside headliner Sean McGowan - a festival regular up and down the country.
Tickets are being sold on a 'per car' basis allowing up to five members of a music-loving household to enjoy an evening’s entertainment for the price of a single ticket.

Organiser George Rashbrook, of SoundLevel Events, said 'This will be such a unique and exciting evening. Events like this have been a massive hit in Europe this year but we haven’t seen anything like it in the UK.
'We were devastated when we had to cancel a whole summer’s worth of live events due to the lockdown. It could be months before we’re allowed to put on traditional gigs again. We know our audiences don’t want to wait that long and we’re genuinely excited to be able to bring them some amazing live music in a safe, controlled environment.'
The event has been planned to comply with social distancing requirements. While the music will be broadcast from on-stage speakers like a conventional show, each vehicle will be given a sanitised wireless speaker so people don’t have to get out of their car.
Those who want to get out will be given instructions on how they can enjoy the music while never being less than two metres from anyone outside their own household.
Hampshire County Council, which manages Royal Victoria Country Park, will be organising food and drink sales and providing toilets.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday from www.soundlevel.events
