Great British Bake Off contestant Dave Friday from Waterlooville gets engaged to girlfriend Stacey
A WATERLOOVILLE security guard who has shown the nation his baking skills has proposed to his girlfriend on television.
Dave Friday was a finalist in this year's Great British Bake Off, broadcast on Channel 4, finishing the show as the runner-up.
But on the post-finale spin-off show, An Extra Slice, the 30-year-old proposed to his partner Stacey – and she said yes.

He said: ‘Stacey Valentine I love you from the bottom of my heart and will you marry me?’
She initially responded: ‘Oh God, I actually thought you were going to say a joke,’ before saying yes.
Dave narrowly missed out on becoming Bake Off champion during Tuesday’s final, with 20-year-old accounting and finance student Peter Sawkins taking the crown.

Speaking to The News before he watched the final with Stacey and their newborn son, Ronnie, Dave said: ‘It did feel like three friends going into the final, but the thought of being so close to winning gave it a bit of a competitive edge.
‘Stacey said that I had already won in her eyes so anything from now is a bonus.’
