Gosport Borough Council funded the scheme. Council leader Peter Chegwyn said: "Encouraging children to be outside enjoying themselves, socialising and keeping fit is so important. That's why are continuing to invest in maintaining and improving our play facilities like Rowner and Bridgemary."

Other improvements to the play area include repairs to the tarmac surface, the entrance and fencing. The park has a basket swing, small skate park and games area - while being situated next to an open playing field and woodland area.

Rowner is the second play park to undergo recent improvement work, after Bridgemary Park Play Area was fully refurbished earlier this year.
