Firework display lights up the sky above Portsmouth to mark arrival of new Brittany Ferries ship

A FIREWORK display has illuminated the sky above Portsmouth to celebrate the arrival of a new ferry into the city.

The stunning show kicked off from 7pm and lasted about five minutes.

It was organised to honour Brittany Ferries’ vessel Galicia, named after the region of Spain she will take passengers to.

The ship made her first visit to Portsmouth in October, but is now officially part of the fleet.

She will do two round trips to and from the Cantabrian coastline each week, and is the first new vessel for Brittany Ferries since 2009.

As the ferry came into Portsmouth International Port, fireworks were set off from a barge near Flathouse Quay.
