The 48-year-old amateur boxer was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital where doctors discovered massive swelling to his brain. The father who recently became a grandad remained in a coma until his death.

Adam’s distraught wife Diana said “life will never be the same again” following his death. She said: “Adam was a devoted family man and a brilliant friend to everyone.

“He was one of those people that would be the first to help anyone. He had a great presence about him that when he walked into a room and smiled, the whole room would also smile.

“We miss him so much. He only became a grandad six months ago and was so happy to be a grandad, it’s just devastating that he won’t get to see his granddaughter grow up.”

Diana said Adam had passed away surrounded by his family leaving “our hearts shattered”. She added: “Everything just hurts so much. He was my best friend and my husband and I just can't believe that he's not here with me anymore. I thought we had years left together, it's just not fair and life will never be the same again.”

Adam’s Havant Road business A&D Asbestos Removal has now been closed, with Diana writing on his Facebook page: "Thank you so much to anyone that has used A&D for jobs over the years.”

Family friend Heather Male is now raising funds to support the family with around £11,000 raised so far. Diana said of the incredible outpouring of support: "I can't believe how generous and kind people have been in donating, it brings me to tears every time I look at the amount.

“It means the world to me and the kids to be able to give Adam the send-off that he deserves and to be able to have some time to grieve properly without worrying about money.”

Heather wrote on GoFundMe: “Adam unexpectedly passed away. He was a devoted family man who meant so much to those around him.

“In light of this sudden loss, we are coming together to support his loving family during this incredibly difficult time. We hope to help ease some of the financial strain they are facing and allow them the time and space they need to begin coming to terms with their loss.

“If you are able, we kindly ask you to consider making a donation in Adam’s memory - no matter how small. Your support and generosity would mean a great deal to his family and friends. Thank you.”
