Denmead care home residents celebrate Caribbean-themed party

PENSIONERS were given a taste of the Caribbean as their care home was transformed into a tropical paradise.

Residents at Denmead Grange care home, in Denmead, rallied to celebrate all things Caribbean during one of the Forest Road health facility’s latest shindigs.

And getting into the swing of things, residents all dressed up in grass skirts and colourful floral lei.

Staff also decorated tables with themed balloons, toucans and multi-coloured crockery, to add some extra tropical spice to proceedings.

Music helped to get the party started, with residents later tucking into Caribbean-inspired foods for dinner.

Sharon Hare, general manager at Denmead Grange, said the celebration had been a huge hit with residents.

She added: ‘This has been a huge amount of fun and sparked a lot of memories for residents to talk about holidays they had taken.’

Denmead Grange care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers.

The facility provides residential care and dementia care for 60 residents on either a long-term or respite basis.

Like many care homes across the country, Denmead Grange has been locked down during the coronavirus pandemic. It is now accepting new residents. For details, see barchester.com
