Dead dolphin found washed up on Isle of Wight
A dead dolphin has been discovered washed ashore on the Isle of Wight.
Members of the Ventor Coastguard were called out to reports of the mammal at Sandown at about 12.40pm on Monday November 2.
They found the mammal and completed the necessary measurements and forms, along with photos.

A statement from the coastguard team said: ‘Dolphins, porpoises and whales are protected under the royal fish laws of the UK, and HM Coastguard undertakes duties on behalf of the Receiver of a Wreck to record details of royal fish washed ashore.’
The fish was spotted by a Portsmouth resident who reported the find to the council and coastguard.
Pods of dolphins have been seen a number of times in the Solent in recent years.
