D-Day 80: Baffins Yarn-Bombers display post box topper tribute on Tangier Road
A Portsmouth sewing group have revealed their latest creation which is a tribute to the upcoming D-Day anniversary.

Baffins has been brightened up throughout the year with creations by the Baffins Yarn-Bombers, a sewing group that have designed post box toppers and bollard covers. Their latest creation is now adorning the post box on Tangier Road as the group pay their tribute to the upcoming D-Day 80th anniversary.
The post box topper was put on this week with the talented group knitting soldiers in a landing craft and alongside a tank. The group have increased in numbers since they put up the Christmas decorations last year and have subsequently created Valentines Day and Easter designs.
Vilma Cooke, who joined the group last year said: “We wanted to commemorate D-Day and remember all the people that sacrificed themselves for the country.”
The group are already working on their next project as they continue to aim to brighten peoples days. Vilma said: “We just want to put a smile on peoples faces. Our next project is well under way and we are planning a remembrance tribute. It’s a real community effort. Wait for summer, it is going to be amazing.”
