Council to resume bin collections after weekend snowfall sparked suspension

BIN collection will be resumed tomorrow after it was suspended by a council amid fears over ‘public safety’.

East Hampshire District Council, which covers the Clanfield and Horndean areas, took the decision to suspend collections following yesterday’s snowfall.

Officials from the authority claimed residue ice and snow had made conditions in some parts treacherous.

Now, the council says bin collections will resume tomorrow – although garden waste collections will remain on hold until next week.

A council spokesman said: ‘We are pleased to let you know that bin collections will be resuming Tuesday, January 26 as scheduled.

‘If your collection was due on Monday, January 25, please leave your bin out and our crews will return as soon as they can throughout the week.

‘Unfortunately, garden waste collections will not be taking place this week as crews have been reallocated to help us catch up on Monday's collections. Any extra garden waste will be collected on your next scheduled collection date.

‘Thank you for your patience today and continuing to support our crews.’
