Recycling was not collected from areas of the city on Thursday
Portsmouth City Council has apologised to residents whose recycling was not collected and told them: “Please take your bins back in.”
The authority was unable to pick up recycling from some areas of the city (shown in a map) on Thursday June 25 due to “severe service disruptions”.

Residents have now been told the council will not be able to return to collect any recycling outstanding until the next pick up.
A social media post from the council said: “We are currently experiencing severe service disruptions impacting recycling collections.
“Unfortunately, due to the scale of the disruption, we will not be able to return to collect any missed recycling for Thursday 25 June - week 2 (please see the map for the impacted area).
“Please do not report a missed recycling collection for this area. Please take your bins back in and retain your recycling until your next scheduled collection day.
“To help us manage this please compact your recycling where possible and break down all cardboard boxes. We will accept additional side recycling presented in a cardboard box on your next collection date.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their support.”
