Copnor Road fire: Emergency services called after takeaway blaze in Portsmouth
FIRE crews from Cosham and Southsea have been dealing with a fire at a takeaway in Portsmouth.
Several fire appliances, a police car and an ambulance have all been seen in Copnor Road with witnesses also reporting that an air ambulance landed nearby at College Park.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue said crews were called to a kitchen fire in The Wonderful Eat Chinese takeaway.
Paramedics have been at the scene helping to treat people.
A road closure was in place between Chichester Road and Stubbington Avenue, but it has now been reopened.
Sophia Benham, 45, was in the area at the time collecting her children from Lyndhurst Junior School.
Sophia said: ‘As we were leaving the school I could hear the sirens from the emergency services attending the incident. I saw the air ambulance in the sky and I said “that is landing”.
‘As we drove away from the school I could see the helicopter had landed in the park and the paramedics were getting off to go to the scene.’

There was traffic congestion in the area while the road closure was in place.
