Barkes is back on south’s airwaves – and it’s Easy to hear him...
Broadcaster and journalist Duncan Barkes is back to the south coast’s airwaves.
He has joined Nation Easy Radio to present a new late-night show which sees him returning to his radio roots just over 30 years since he first broadcast to the his part of the world.
Nation Easy Radio can be heard across the greater Portsmouth area on DAB digital radio and on 107.4FM. It is also available on smart speakers and via the Nation Player app.
On DAB digital radio, you’ll be able to hear the show in the Chichester and Bognor area to the east, and right across Hampshire in the west.

Duncan – a former Chichester Observer columnist – first broadcast to Portsmouth in 1995 on Ocean Sound ‘Classic Hits’ and ‘Light and Easy’ South Coast Radio presenting weekend and nighttime radio shows.
He joins Nation Easy Radio to host ‘The Friday Night Music Club’ and plays a selection of all-time relaxing favourites with an emphasis on relaxing quality songs of the last 60 years.
There are listener requests and memories, along with a focus on some of the greatest singers and bands of all time.
Duncan joins Kate Weston, Andy Jackson, Stuart McGinley and Gary Parker who have been part of the wider-Portsmouth radio scene for years and now form the backbone of the Nation Easy Radio schedule. Many of them are well-known from their days with Wave 105.
Nation Easy Radio is part of the Nation Broadcasting group of radio stations.
Jason Bryant, founder of Nation Broadcasting said: “Nation Easy Radio is fast becoming the choice of listeners in Hampshire who want to hear familiar easy songs on a radio station stuffed full of local voices who live and breathe the area. Duncan’s addition to our Friday nights means we have a show that nicely rounds off the week and eases folk into the weekend.”
Duncan Barkes said: “I love broadcasting to this part of the world. What I like about Nation Easy Radio is that it offers a form of escapism through music which is so important in these chaotic and challenging times. Late night radio has a special place in my heart, so it’s great to be joining the station to play some fabulous tunes after dark.”
