The Portsmouth hero died last year at the age of 100, and his funeral was held earlier this month. When The News went to interview him ahead of his birthday, we saw these brilliant watercolours hanging on his wall – which John kindly gave us permission to photograph and share with our readers. Here are a selection of his pictures. Photographs taken by Habibur Rahman.
5. John Jenkins watercolours
John was passionate about art. Here he is back in 2015 with (l-r) Ami Lowman discussing an exhibition of textiles that were inspired by D-Day. The project was led by the Making Space arts centre in Leigh Park and displayed at the D-Day Museum, Southsea. Picture: Allan Hutchings (151733-043) | JPIMedia Photo: -
