'Amazing response' sees vital first aid sessions for children return to Hayling Island
An “amazing response” has seen first aid sessions for children return to Hayling Island.

Paramedic Zara Willis runs Mini Medics children’s first aid sessions helping to teach youngsters and families what to do in an emergency.
The “fun and interactive” sessions teach children how to get help in an emergency, call 999 and know what to say while staying calm and safe, as well as learning basic first aid skills and understanding accident prevention at home. A training academy for larger groups is also offered.
Children and parents are taught life-saving skills in a “calm, age-appropriate way” that also includes CPR, advice on choking, burns, allergies and more.
Zara said: “Teaching children and families basic first aid and what to do in an emergency is such a valuable life skill, and my aim is to help as many families as possible feel more confident and prepared.
“I’d love to make these sessions more accessible to families through our community. I run sessions for a variety of age groups, teaching them what to do in the event of an emergency.
“I’ve also written a Mini Medics first aid book for children to help support what they learn in the sessions at home.”
Zara has brought back the sessions after receiving an “amazing response” from locals. She added: “They are perfect for building confidence and life-saving knowledge in a child-friendly way. All children receive a certificate and become a proud Brave Helper.”
The next session is on February 16 at the West Town Inn. With limited spaces available people are encouraged to book in advance with tickets costing £10 a child. Call 07470 807764 or go to www.facebook.com/zara.willis.357 to book.
