Portsmouth life has changed so much since then, but loved-up couples have still found time to say their vows between and during Covid-19 restrictions.
We asked online readers of The News, Portsmouth to share with us their lockdown wedding photos – and the responses were beautiful.
Here’s the first 30 snaps from their special days, with a second gallery soon to follow.
If you’ve already sent us a photo, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re included.

Anne-marie married on 4.11.20. She said: 'So our wedding was supposed to be in June last year in May we postponed it until March this year and it looks like we're going to have to postpone again. We managed to do our legal part at the registry office on the 4th of November the day before the next lockdown was put in place. We only had our witnesses no other family or friends or even our children present. So my wedding dress is still being looked after by my maid of honour and all my wedding items are in storage for now.' Photo: Annie-marie Mackintosh
