"Highly desirable ‘Spice Island’ peninsula" Camber Point up for sale with prospective plans for 14 new homes
A major piece of land in Old Portsmouth, which has been vacant for several years, has gone up for sale with prospective plans to create multiple new homes in the pipeline.
The waterfront site, which has been levelled and has new hoardings, has previously been granted planning permission for seven townhouses, seven apartments, a four storey block comprising of two restaurants or cafes and parking back in 2006.

David Podesta, head of development at Vail Williams, said “the site is generating quite a lot of interest” since the listing launched last week, with a “mixture of local developers” taking a shine to the land.
Camber Point, which spans 0.423 acres, also has “potential” for alternative uses subject to planning, with Fullers previously commissioning HGP Architects to create “feasibility designs” for a new hotel which would house 80 rooms, a generous reception and a fine dining area with a raised ground floor for flood protection.
A spokesperson for Fuller, Smith & Turner said: “We had looked at developing the site, but having reassessed, we have decided not to proceed and the land is being marketed for sale.”

The Vail Williams listing has described the land as a “highly desirable ‘Spice Island’ peninsula” that not only offers “outstanding” views of Portsmouth Harbour and Gunwharf Quays, but also benefits from convenient travel connectivity.
David added: “A lot of local people will know it because it’s a really great spot in a really great location.”
