Mayor to unveil revamp of old Hayling railway
A REVAMP of the Hayling Billy trail will be unveiled next week.
The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Leah Turner, will be officially opening the newly-refurbished Hayling Billy Line signal together with a new pathway next Wednesday at 2pm.
The signal dates back to 1950 when the railway line linked the mainland with the island.
Cllr Turner said: ‘There are such fond memories of the Billy Line and this project is another example of what can be achieved when councils and the community work together.’
The work cost almost £20,000 – paid by the Heritage Lottery fund and a £300 local community grant.
