Live music and fabulous performances took centre stage last night (November 20) as the countdown to Christmas officially kicked off with the annual Palmerston Road light switch on event.
Hundreds of people lined the high street to watch performances from Kings Theatre’s Aladdin panto cast, schools across the city and theatre groups.
Councillor Steve Pitt, leader of the council, previously said: “Portsmouth is lighting up this festive season with events designed to support local businesses and rediscover our high streets.
“Thank you to our sponsors for making these celebrations possible. I encourage everyone to join the fun and shop local this Christmas.”
