‘Coastguard rescue was launched, and they guided us onto his location.

‘Hillhead coastguard and Portsmouth coastguard were also in attendance.

‘We went up to the casualty and pulled him onto the lifeboat.

‘He was incredibly cold and hypothermic, and we handed him over to the ambulance.

‘He was a lucky chap - the water is very cold and the tide was on the rise.

‘It was a multi-agency response and we’re glad we got to him so quickly.’

The coastguard rescue 175 helicopter also attended.

James added: ‘As always, I’m very pleased to be able to work with professionals who help save lives.

‘We worked together quickly so that the man’s life was saved. It was a credit to everyone.’
