"Essential tree work" to commence at multi-million pound Bransbury Park leisure centre site
Contractors will be at the site of a new multi-million pound leisure centre for “essential” preparation work.
The Portsmouth City Council has now confirmed “essential tree work” is due to start on January 26, with contractors on site for a few days.
The new leisure centre, in Bransbury Road, will come equipped with a 25m four lane pool and learner, a GP surgery costing £1.5m along with a relocated play area with brand new equipment.
As part of the upcoming work on the site, four trees will be removed around the play areas and multiple trees will be pruned to allow construction vehicles access during the project.
Over the course of the build, more than 50 new trees will be planted around the development, and across the wider park, to replace and enhance tree cover.
The new leisure centre is due to be completed by 2027.
