From better transport links to more green spaces, we know our residents also want more shops and facilities - as well as a (rather unrealistic) wish list which is, in truth, never ending.
Here we look at 13 things which would make our glorious city even better - even if we know some will never be a reality!

9. More rail links
Well as South Western Railway has became the first operator to come under public ownership we can ask the government for better rail links just outside the city. Waterlooville remains cut off from the network - though it was once served by the Portsdown and Horndean Light Railway, a tramway system that operated from 1903 to 1935. This tramway connected Waterlooville with Portsmouth and other nearby areas. The new Welborne Garden Village being built to the north of Fareham is also pencilled in for a station. 10. No more roadworks
Okay, we know EVERYONE now has roadworks fatigue. The multiple sets of projects on the M27 and A27 feel like they have been going on forever - and that is without all the ongoing works inside the city too. Can someone please just wave a magic wand so it is all over now please? | National World

11. Free parking
Free parking is always suggested as a way of increasing visitors and shoppers to our city and surrounding area. So let's put the theory to the test for the day and make parking free to see if it really will be a boost to the city centre for example. | Contributed Photo: Warwick District Council

12. Watersports and water play centre
With the demise of Eastney Swimming Pool, the area is now earmarked for some type of watersports centre. It would be fantastic if something could be created there which offered watersports such as paddle boarding, alongside some sort of family-friendly water area. Our city's splashpads are fantastic for little ones, but having an outside venue in the south of the city to complement the new Hilsea Lido would be just perfect! Most of us won't remember, but Southsea did one have a children's swimming pool! | Mills & Co Ltd/Archives
