More containers filled with bananas lost overboard from a ship in the Solent are found
Most of the containers lost overboard from a ship in the Solent have been found in West Sussex.
Eleven of the 16 containers lost from cargo ship Baltic Klipper on Saturday evening (December 6) have been washed ashore, with seven containers located in Selsey, two at Pagham Harbour and two in Bognor Regis.

They contained thousands of bananas, avocados and plantain with efforts ongoing since Sunday to locate and recover the refrigerated units. Emergency services have been working with the county council and Coastguard, as well as the ship’s owner as part of the recovery operation.
A West Sussex County Council statement said: “ "As part of the operational response, HM Coastguard helicopter and fixed wing aircraft have been undertaking offshore searches in an attempt to locate the outstanding containers. All wreck material should be reported to the Receiver of Wreck, however this does not include perishable goods like foodstuffs.”
HM Coastguard is advising people to stay clear of washed up containers and report further sightings on O3443820560 .
