M&S Foodhall in Gosport closed as fire crews tell staff to vacate after small fire in an electrical box
Store remains closed following fire
A popular food store in Gosport has been closed all day after a fire broke out in the morning.
Fire crews rushed to the M&S Foodhall on Cotsworth Road just after 9.30am on Sunday, May 24 to deal with what they described as a “small fire”. While the blaze was out when they arrived, they advised staff to vacate the premises until an engineer arrived due to the fire being in an electrical box.

The store has been closed all day with staff out the front of the store advising customers of the situation. It has not been confirmed when they will reopen.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Fareham and Gosport, along with an aerial ladder platform, were called to a fire at a shop on Cotsworth Road, Gosport, shortly after 09:30 this morning (May 24).
“The small fire, which was out on arrival, was located in an electrical box. The incident was handed over to staff, with instructions to vacate the premises until an engineer arrived. A stop message was received at around 11:45am."
It is believed the M&S store is the only one effected by the incident.
