Fire destroys shed and 'quickly spread' to nearby Gosport properties as emergency crews scrambled to scene

Firefighters used hose reels and jets to tackle the blaze

Flames erupted from a shed in Gosport and “quickly spread” to other properties.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the fire in The Crossways yesterday evening (April 28). Jets and hose reels were used to quench the blaze.

The fire started in a shed and proceeded to set alight outbuildings nearby, including a conservatory. No injuries were reported from the scene.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) said: “Multiple emergency calls were made to the HIWFRS Control Room yesterday evening reporting a shed fire in Gosport.

“Fire crews from Gosport and Fareham were mobilised shortly after 7.30pm to The Crossways, where they found the shed fully involved in fire. The blaze had quickly spread externally to adjacent properties and internally to a conservatory. Firefighters used jets and hose reels to bring the fire under control and returned to their stations around 9pm.”
