Cookie the dog rescued as Cavapoo gets head stuck in breezeblock after chasing fox in Gosport

Firefighters had to make precise cuts in the brickwork to free the animal

A dog has been rescued by fighters after getting its head stuck in a breezeblock.

Cookie got into problems after chasing a fox in Gosport. While running after the animal, the Cavapoo - crossbreed of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle - managed to get himself wedged into a decorative garden breezeblock.

The dog was in distress and reports were made to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS). Personnel from Fareham fire station were deployed to the scene to free the pooch.

The fire service said: “Due to the design of the brick, and his awkward position, the on-call firefighters chip-ped away at the brick, making several careful technical cuts in order for it to crumble away and free Cookie safely.

“Soon back on all four paws, and none the worse for his adventure, six-year-old Cookie proved that he is one tough cookie after all.”
