Buckland Adventure Park in Portsmouth closed until further notice after "fire" nearby

Portsmouth City Council announced on Facebook today that the Buckland Adventure Playground in Malins Road has been shut - stating they will inform the public when it reopens.

Responding to queries in the comments section, a spokesperson said a “small fire” took place “in the one of the rooms of the building at the playground”. She added that no one was injured in the blaze, but safety checks needed to be carried out before the park could be reopened.

Another spokesperson added: “There was a fire incident at the playground today (not in the playground itself, but in one of the rooms of the building at the playground). It has been dealt with by the fire services, and nobody was hurt, but we just need to make sure everything is ok before reopening.”

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) has been approached for more details.
