Early blooms are due to mild winter

BEAUTIFUL blooms have been popping up all over because of an unusually mild winter.

But don’t worry, it’s not too late to plant your bulbs, according to The News’ gardening expert Brian Kidd.

He said: ‘It is very unusual. Normally we would expect to see daffodils in full bloom in February and onwards.

‘But if we have a bad frost there won’t be much damage as they are very hardy.

‘And if you have forgotten to plant your bulbs, plant them now whatever they are, they will be absolutely beautiful by spring.’

Hollam Nurseries, in Titchfield, pictured below, has picked around 10,000 bunches of daffodils since mid-December 2015.
