Royal Navy ship HMS Severn 'electrical issue' at Portsmouth Naval Base sparks Hampshire firefighters call out
FIRE crews were called to HMS Severn at Portsmouth Naval Base as a ‘precaution’ following an electrical issue, the navy has said.
Firefighters were at the Royal Navy base this afternoon to help with the ‘electrical issue’ involving the River-class offshore patrol vessel.
A navy spokesman said fire crews were ‘called as precaution’ with ‘no fire, no injuries’.
Severn was recommissioned in June last year after almost three years out of the fleet.

Then Commander Philip Harper took his 1,700-tonne warship and crew through a three-week programme readying her for service.
‘‘This is the first time in living memory that the Royal Navy has re-commissioned a ship, and it’s been a challenge,’ he said in June.
‘We’ve achieved all of this during a global pandemic.’
