Portsmouth Remembrance services: Times and details of parades in Gosport, Havant, Fareham and elsewhere
Sombre residents in the Portsmouth area will be attending parades in their droves to honour the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.
Commemorations will be taking place across Hampshire, allowing people to think of loved ones and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their country. Much of the nation will be looking towards the Cenotaph commemoration in London on November 9.
Military personnel have been hard at work training in Portsmouth ahead of the parade, completing weeks of intensive drills. Several services are taking place closer to home, marking the sacrifices of those who fought for the freedoms we have today in the First World War, Second World War, and other conflicts.

Portsmouth
Proceedings in Portsmouth will start at 9.15am at the Southsea Naval War Memorial, honouring sailors who died while serving their country. Commodore Marcel Rosenberg ADC, Commander of HMNB Portsmouth, will speak at the service.
The parade will finish at 10am to allow for the veterans and naval guard to make their way to Guildhall Square for the main remembrance service - starting from 10.30am.
A two-minute silence will be held at 11am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the First World War Cenotaph and Second World War memorial. Thousands of people attended the parade last year, with crowds wearing their poppies with pride. Magnificent support has already been shown for the Royal British Legion (RBL) poppy appeal.
Gosport
The Remembrance Sunday parade will be held at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. The parade will step off at 10.30am, with the ceremony starting at 10.58am.
An armed guard, courtesy of HMS Sultan, will lead a parade of representatives from the Royal British Legion, veterans' groups, scouts, guides, sea cadets, air cadets and other local organisations. Gosport Solent Brass Band is expected to provide military music for the service.
A bugler from the band will perform The Last Post and Reverie. A march past in front of the hospital will conclude the proceedings.

Fareham
The “Forever Remembered” ceremony will take place at the war memorial at Holy Trinity Church at 9.45am. Names of those who served from the Fareham area who lost their lives in conflicts will be read out to the public.
The parade will step off from the Duke of Connaught's Own Club in Western Road. It will proceed to head along Kings Road and West Street, before arriving at the war memorial. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony and church service.
Personnel from HMS Collingwood’s Volunteer Band and Platoons, alongside representatives from the RBL, will lead the parade.
Havant
The mayor of Havant, Councillor Munazza Faiz, said “Remembrance Sunday honours the sacrifices that our Armed Forces and civilians have made to protect our lives. I would like to invite all residents to join us at the memorial service and parade in Havant to pay our respects and remember those who have given their lives to defend our freedom.”
The civic remembrance service starts at St Faith’s Church in West Street at 9.30am. At 10.20am, the Remembrance Sunday parade will form at the Royal British Legion Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Brockhampton Lane.
The parade will march to St Faith’s Church from 10.30am, and will then proceed to the war memorial in West Street for 10.45am.
Hayling Island
The parade on Hayling Island will leave Hollow Lane at 10.40am, marching along Elm Grove to the Cenotaph in St Mary’s Road for the wreath-laying ceremony. This will then move to St Mary’s Church for the remembrance service.
Emsworth
The Emsworth parade will leave Queen Street at 2.15pm and will head to Church Path. People are invited to attend the service inside St James Church in Church Path.
Lee-on-the-Solent
A service will be taking place at the Lee-on-the-Solent Memorial Garden in Marine Parade. The parade is due to start at 10.45am, with personnel present from 10.30am. A commemoration will be held at the Fleet Air Arm Memorial.
Other remembrance events
Various other smaller remembrance events are taking place across the Portsmouth area. The Royal Garrison Church in Old Portsmouth will be welcoming visitors between 10.30am and 3pm. Last entry will be at 2.30pm, and the two minute silence will be held.
The HMS Royal Oak Association is holding a service of remembrance at 10.45am on November 11 at the HMS Royal Oak memorial at The Hard.
