"So pleased": New Chief Executive Officer takes charge of Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity have appointed a new chief executive officer.

Samantha Nicolson MBE has taken on the role of the Portsmouth-based organisation after being in temporary charge. The charity’s board of trustees made the decision based on her leadership, and extensive experience working within the Royal Navy community.

“I am so pleased that the Board has appointed me into the CEO role on a permanent basis,” Ms Nicolson said. “Having served the charity and our beneficiaries for 17 years now, I feel I have a good grounding in what is required for this role and what is needed to take the charity forward in these uncertain times. We will continue to work tirelessly for those that need us most, in partnership with the other Naval charities as well as the Royal Navy.”

The RNRMC supports serving personnel and veterans, as well as their families, throughout every stage of their lives - from the moment they join the force and beyond. It distributes millions of pounds to organisations on an annual basis which care for children, families, and veterans of both forces, as well as the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA).

Chair of Trustees, Dr Brian Gilvary, said: “The Board is delighted to confirm Sam’s appointment as Chief Executive. During her time as Interim CEO, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and a heartfelt commitment to the people we serve. We are confident she will continue to drive the charity forward with energy, empathy, and integrity.”
