HMS Queen Elizabeth is arriving home to Portsmouth after two-month deployment around the UK and northern Europe in her new role as a NATO command ship.

The aircraft carrier is returning to her home port tomorrow morning (November 5) and will pass the NAB tower in the Solent at around 7.55am, before reaching the Outer Spit Buoy which she is expected to leave at around 8.45am. She will then head into the harbour, passing the Round Tower at around 9am, according to the Kings Harbour Master.

She is expected to be greeted by friends and family of the ship’s company at the Hot Walls and the Round Tower.

The Royal Navy said the 65,000 tonne warship’s deployment was part of her journey back to the front line after her first re-certification in Rosyth. It said this autumn’s training – split between UK waters and the eastern Atlantic – lays the groundwork for more complex workouts in 2027, including Nato’s Exercise Steadfast Defender.

During her deployment she visited Belfast and Gibraltar, as well as undergoing a series of complex exercises.

HMS Queen Elizabeth will soon take on the duties of flagship from her sister vessel HMS Prince of Wales, who is currently undertaking the second phase of Operation Firecrest with the UK Carrier Strike Group (UKCSG).
