This year promises the return of the hotly-contested field gun competition amid a whole host of family fun. The event is set to take place on July 4, 2026. Various attractions have been organised for visitors to catch a glimpse into what life is like in the Royal Navy, all while raising funds for the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC). A total of £15,000 was raised for various organisations.

Interactive Zones for hands-on activities will be making a return as parts of the base will be opened for the public. They can see the training equipment and experience some of the military drills first-hand, including how to navigate a ship into harbour on the base’s warship bridge simulator.

There will also be a military village, fairground rides including dodgems, a petting zoo, inflatable attractions, and more. Early discounts mean tickets cost £14 for adults, £7 for children aged five-15, and £7 for carers.

Families of two adults and up to three children can get a group entry for £34. Children under three-years-old get free entry.

Gates are due to open at 9.30am and close at 5pm, with free onsite parking. All entertainment is free of charge after the entrance fee is paid. You can purchase tickets by visiting the HMS Collingwood website.
