Fareham and Gosport to pay tribute to fallen servicemen with Remembrance Day parades
Fareham and Gosport have some of the highest numbers of veterans in the UK
Remembrance Day parades will take place in Fareham and Gosport to honour British armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
Fareham’s annual Remembrance Day Parade will take place on Sunday November 8 at Holy Trinity Church.
The names of members of the Forces who have died in conflict from the Fareham area will be read out during a ‘Forever Remembered’ ceremony at the church at 9.45am. The parade will then set off from the Duke of Connaught’s Own Club in Western Road at 10.40am under the direction of the Parade Marshall of HMS Collingwood.

At the war memorial a two minutes’ silence will be observed at 11.00am, followed by the Ceremony of Laying Wreaths and a special service at Holy Trinity Church.
The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Tina Ellis, said: “Remembrance Day is a deeply meaningful occasion for myself, my family and the whole Fareham community. In Hampshire, Fareham has the second highest number of veterans living in the Borough, second only to Gosport, as well as many serving personnel.
“The ‘Forever Remembered’ ceremony and Parade offer poignant reminders of those brave servicemen and women who have lost their lives in the defence of our freedom. I encourage residents to join us in paying tribute to the fallen as well as those still serving.”

In Gosport, residents are invited to attend a service of remembrance at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital, also on November 8. An armed guard from HMS Sultan will form on the road opposite the Hospital. They will be joined by representatives from the Royal British Legion, veterans' groups, Scouts, and Sea Cadets alongside other local organisations.
The parade will step off at 10.30am, with music provided by Gosport Solent Brass, and the ceremony, conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplain Rev Paul Chamberlain, will start at 10.55am.
The Mayor of Gosport, Cllr Kirsten Bradley, will lay a wreath on behalf of the borough. She will be joined by the King’s representative from the Lord-Lieutenant’s office, Admiral Sir Philip Jones GCB DL.
As of 2025, 11.4% of Gosport’s population had previously served in the British armed forces, the highest of any area in the UK.
