Fabulous Red Arrows and Typhoon flyover at Southsea Common - in pictures

A spectacular flypast from the Red Arrows and a Typhoon FGR4 brought to a close the first of two commemorative D-Day 80 events on Southsea Common.

This afternoon’s flypast was enjoyed not only by those inside the event but although those with without tickets who gathered along the Esplanade, the other half of the common not fenced off and along the promenade to catch a glimpse of the aircraft. Those residents were also able to watch a gun salute in front of the Naval War Memorial by the frigate HMS St Albans.
