Proud moment of remembrance as Veterans Dementia Support UK hosts flag raising ceremony for Armed Forces Week
An armed forces ceremony has taken place
To celebrate the start of Armed Forces Week, a charity has hosted a flag raising ceremony with servicemen and veterans.

On Monday, June 22 Veterans Dementia Support UK united veterans and current servicemen from HMS Collingwood for an 11am flag-raising ceremony at the Lee-on-the-Solent Memory Cafe.

After the ceremony, veterans with dementia, their carers and volunteers enjoyed tea and cake with military personnel while sharing and reflecting on their experiences in the Royal Navy.
Veterans Dementia Support UK, which is a Hampshire-based charity, supports armed forces veterans living with dementia and those caring for someone with dementia.
The charity provides free face-to-face support groups, carer support, advice and information services, a Healthy Veterans Project, and other services for veterans with dementia.
Armed Forces week, which takes place between June 22 to 27, is a national opportunity to honour those who fought for the country. Veterans Dementia Support UK will continue its week-long programme of events with an afternoon of tea and cake at Fryern Pavilion, in Eastleigh, on June 23 and a meeting at The Point Theatre, in Eastleigh, on June 24.
