King's Birthday Honours List 2026: Charity figurehead made MBE for services to Royal Navy and veterans
The charity figurehead has an extensive career in the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS)
A highly thought of charity executive has been made an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Anne Carr, head of grants for the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), has been honoured for her services to the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and veterans. Previously serving in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS), Ms Carr has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire by King Charles III.

She said: “I feel very honoured to receive an MBE and truly grateful to have been recognised. My career in the WRNS, and those years, shaped so much of who I am today, the values I hold, the friendships I made, and my understanding of what service really means. It’s something that has stayed with me ever since.”
Ms Carr has worked for the charity for 16 years. The organisation said she has brought “compassion, commitment, and quiet determination to every aspect of her role”. Her role involves supporting service personnel and her families. She has delivered projects totalling £112m, which has included major capital refurbishments and improvements, funding family days, respite breaks, and operational welfare grants during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The RNRMC said Ms Carr has delivered vital support to those who need it most, whether ashore in the UK or on deployment across the world. She was a particular steadfast presence during the conflict in Afghanistan, which has included immediate assistance through death-in-service grants to supporting the wounded, injured, and sick.
The Portsmouth-based charity added: “Anne’s impact is reflected not only in the scale of her work but in the lives she has touched and the difference she has made to so many. We warmly congratulate her on this well-deserved honour and thank her for her exceptional contribution to those who serve and the families who stand beside them.”
Ms Carr said: “I was fortunate to join the charity in its earliest days, with a shared purpose and a real belief in what we were trying to build for Royal Navy personnel, their families, and veterans. It has been an honour to see that work grow and to play a part in supporting a community that means so much to me.
“This award reflects not only my own efforts but the dedication of everyone I’ve worked with over the years, the staff I have had the privilege to manage, colleagues working inside and outside the RNRMC, volunteers, families, and our beneficiaries. I’m proud to have contributed to something that continues to make a difference and remain dedicated to supporting the Royal Navy community.”
